Sustainability

Manna Gum Community House promotes environmental sustainability with advocacy, community education, special events and information sessions.

We are committed to help tackle climate change, which is why we have signed up to TAKE2, a Victorian Government initiative. You can read more about TAKE2 and our pledge here.

We assist our local community to access products and services that will collectively reduce our ecological footprint through bulk buying.

We are a drop-off point for a regular fortnightly delivery of Grow Lightly fruit and vegetable bags which are delivered to the House on a Sunday afternoon for collection. Please visit the Grow Lightly website to register your interest in this service.

We regularly organise bulk buying of Who Gives a Crap toilet paper boxes, a product made with environmentally friendly materials. The company also donates 50% of the profits from sales to WaterAid to build toilets in the developing world.

In 2016-2017 we worked in partnership with Communities Making Energy Together (ComMET) and the Foster Swimming Pool Association to develop and fund the Foster Community Energy Project which resulted in a solar panel installation on our building and a solar mat installation at the Foster Pool.
